About Jim Waggoner

I have been a serious outdoor photographer since retiring from DuPont in 2002. In the beginning, I concentrated on nature (landscapes, wildlife, etc) photography. More recently, I have enjoyed capturing Richmond’s unique architecture and historical sights including the Fan District, Church Hill, Monument Ave., Hollywood Cemetery and the bridges and vistas across the James River. I have also photographed central Virginia’s college campuses, including University of Richmond, and I have photographs from travels in Abingdon, Virginia and Nashville, Tennessee.

I have improved my photography skills through association with other professional photographers, conversion to digital photography in 2006, use of software editing, and participation in juried art shows at Art Works Gallery at 320 Hull Street in Richmond.

Presentation and durability of my photographs are very important to me. Richmond Camera provides my high quality enlargements. Frame Warehouse at Gaskins and West Broad does all my matting and framing. My photographs are dry mounted with acid free, adhesive backed board and all mats are acid free. I use clear glass for optimum visuals.

I am currently using a Nikon D-200 digital SLR camera with a variety of Nikon lenses with their high quality ED glass.
